About the Role

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Director IT Asset Management (ITAM)) provides oversight and leadership of the IT Asset Management t program for End User Operations of The Office of Information and Technology. This includes all IT hardware and software for the Department of Veterans Affairs including Activations and Infrastructure Refresh Program. The Director leads the enterprise-wide development and implementation strategy required to manage the overall EUO operational IT systems.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: Applies consideration to enterprise level issues, such as, IT policy development, documentation, and supportability; systems compatibility, manageability and interoperability; personnel manning and training; and equipment and building physical security.
  • This also, includes architecture, operational issues (bandwidth, management, maintenance), documentation, information assurance policy compliance, life cycle support, and accredited systems security engineering practices.
  • Identifies installation and/or remote site ramifications, such as, site-specific locations, impact on entire installations, bandwidth utilization and remote management.
  • Oversee supervisors who are responsible for setting priorities and reviewing work; assigns work; find ways to improve work methods and productivity and quality; adjust work assignments to accommodate resource allocation decisions; Delegated managerial authority to set a series of annual, multi-year and/or long range work plans and schedules for authorized FTEE(s) or work contracted out.
  • Develop and manage annual and multiyear budgets for personnel, technology, and operational resources.
  • Oversee execution of IT Activation projects from initiation through closure while managing scope, schedule, and budget adherence.

  • Physical Demands: The work is sedentary.
  • Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and to attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site.
