About the Role

This position is located in the Office of Information Technology (OIT); End User Services (EUS), End User Operations (EUO), Endpoint Engineering (EE). The incumbent functions as the Director of Client Technologies, performing work that has a critical impact on VA's ability to analyze, develop, and implement IT projects and programs; that ultimately affect the plans, goals, and effectiveness of VA Medical Centers nationwide. Supervising over administrative and technical personnel duties.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: Serves as the Director of Client Technologies, directly supervising 2nd level supervisors overseeing work performed in Operations, Budget and Procurement, and Engineering.
  • Directs the efficient planning and operation of the Client Tech program.
  • Formulates plans and proper courses of action to implement program objectives on a timely and accurate basis and ensures proper coordination with the necessary stakeholders.
  • Develops work plans and manages the overall work to enhance achievement of the goals and objectives.
  • Determines which goals to curtail or emphasize.
  • Prepares short and long-range plans with employees and contract personnel manages the program; and sets priorities and deadlines.
  • Reviews and assigns work; finds ways to improve work processes and quality; adjusts work assignments to accommodate and resource allocation decisions.
  • Ensures smooth and efficient functions and operations by ensuring that subordinates collaborate and share information and utilize uniform workflow and assignment tracking mechanisms as well as document and information repositories.
  • Directs and executes hiring/onboarding efforts, and makes decisions with respect to hiring, details, reassignments, program funding and contractual support.
  • Develops Statements of Work (SOW), understanding of contract clauses based on laws; policy, and procedures contained in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and other directives.
  • Plans for and manages multiyear contracts.
  • Serves as technical liaison for contractors ensuring satisfactory performance and timely delivery of services; provides technical direction and clarification and guidance to contract specifications included in the SOW.
  • Serves as the Client Tech subject matter expert in the interpretation, revision and development of new policy, regulatory guidelines, and requirements.
  • Establishes organizational goals and determines resources needed to maintain the mission and functions.
