About the Role

This position is established in VHA Workforce Management and Consulting's Human Resources Operations Office. HROO is the exclusive operational HR service provider for VHA's Central Office (VHACO). This position uniquely specializes in the position classification discipline, and accordingly is located within HROO's Classification Shared Service Unit.

What You'll Do

  • Exercises independent judgment to administratively and technically direct and mentor the work of subordinate sections direct reports.
  • Plans and assigns work.
  • Develops, reviews and updates staff position descriptions.
  • Schedules group and individual trainings or face-to-face workshops, coordinates funding approval and prepares agendas and presentations.
  • Reviews position description's (PDs) and classifies positions, explains findings through in-depth written evaluation statements, and signs Optional Form-08 for PDs, including one-of-a-kind, complex, rare, unusual, and standardized PDs.
  • Participates in meetings (in-person, online, or over the phone) to interpret and correlate policy, procedures, and guidelines related to controversial or contentious actions and recommends solutions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • Compressed/Flexible: Available Telework: This position may be authorized for ad hoc telework.
  • Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Ad hoc is defined as occasional, non-recurring telework.
  • Virtual: This position may be authorized for Virtual Work.
  • Virtual Work eligibility is for current VA employees that are already subject to the return to in person work mandate in their current position.
  • Definition of Virtual Work: Employee works outside of original hiring duty station at a VA owned or leased space.
