About the Role

The Chief of Community Care reports to the Deputy Chief of Staff and services as a key resource for Non VA Care and the Executive Leadership Team.

What You'll Do

  • The Chief of Community Care has is responsible for all functions related to Non-VA medical/community care including financial analysis, supervisory oversight of the administrative aspects of Non-VA medical care, provider contract development and contract maintenance, information management and strategic planning.
  • Continuous audit and review of community care metrics and processes as well as individual cases to ensure delivery of appropriate, timely and cost-effective medical care to Veterans in accordance with all applicable and relevant laws, regulations, procedures and directives.
  • Responsible for short, mid and ling-range planning and programming aspects of the Non VA medical care program including development and implementation of local policies for the program, evaluating the organizational structure of the program and preparing reports for facility and VISN leadership necessary to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Provide oversight to clinical and administrative managers to ensure day to day work is completed by subordinates and ensures staff receive appropriate training.
  • Responsible for communicating the provisions of the VA Community Care Program to current and new community-based providers to facilitate and establish a robust network for Care in the community The Chief of Community Care is authorized to make decisions and act on matters within the scope and responsibility of Community Care.
  • In day-to-day operations, these decisions directly impact the development of the various clinical and administrative programs that provide community services to patients assigned to the Atlanta VA Health Care System.
  • The Chief of Community Care must demonstrate leadership and supervision skills and a high degree of personal and professional skills, interpersonal relations, critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • The Chief of Community Care supervises the administrative staff aligned to program.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
  • Work Schedule is subject to change based on agency need.
