This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Eastern Kansas Healthcare System (VAEKHCS), VISN 15, in the Chief of Staff Service Line. The primary purpose of this position is to provide executive-level leadership, technical and data program oversight, strategic partnership management, education and change management, direct supervision of the Health Informatics Service, and direct supervision of the Group Practice Management (GPM) team
What You'll Do
- →Develops, manages, maintains, and provides executive direction for major clinical informatics initiatives and projects of a broad and complex scope spanning multiple facilities, VISN-level programs, and national VA priorities.
- →Exercises enterprise-level authority over clinical informatics architecture, data governance, and analytics strategy, ensuring alignment with VHA national directives while establishing facility and VISN-level policy and execution standards.
- →Manages a comprehensive clinical informatics program at the facility while providing authoritative cross-coverage and strategic coordination across all informatics programs and their managers.
- →Informatics programs include but are not limited to Pharmacoeconomics, Population Health, Clinical Decision Support, Predictive Analytics, Advanced Data Modeling, and Modernization of Information Systems.
- →Serves as the primary liaison between technical and clinical leadership, translating complex requirements and facilitating high-stakes discussions that directly impact patient outcomes, clinical access, and organizational strategy.
- →Creates, integrates, disseminates, and manages data for all enterprise applications, processes, and entities requiring timely and accurate data delivery.
- →Evaluates content quality, ensures access to knowledge resources, eliminates redundancy in duplicated data sources, and drives information interoperability across the organization and at the VISN level.
- →Apply statistical, machine learning, visualization, inferencing, and other advanced techniques to enable decision support ranging from the point of care to enterprise-wide and VISN-wide population management, with the goal of transforming practices and improving system health.
- →Is accountable for enterprise wide data strategy and the transformation of data assets into actionable intelligence that directly drives executive decision-making, resource allocation, and measurable improvements in access, quality, and cost efficiency across the facility and VISN.
- →Directs sophisticated data pipelines and reporting systems to quantify deficiencies and visualize improvements over time, including metrics related to access, throughput, and operational efficiency.
- →Develop reports and information tools using a variety of advanced methods and tools such as Structured Query Language (SQL), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and data from the VISN and VA Corporate Data Warehouse.
- →Apply business process analysis to coordinate the behavior of people, systems, information, and tools to improve clinic access, throughput, and operational efficiency in support of organizational strategy at the facility and VISN levels.
