You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the the Lifting and Handling Technical Division (C710) of the Deputy Lifting and Handling Department (C701), in the Lifting and Handling Department (C700) Code of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will be responsible for the overall management and oversight of strategic planning, maintenance engineering, waterfront engineering, rigging engineering and process improvements.
- →You will prepare recommendations for hiring, promotions, transfers, reassignments, recognition, and disciplinary actions.
- →You will review and approve crane certification packages prior to presentation to the certifying official.
- →You will provide long range planning necessary to ensure timely accomplishment of all nuclear and non-nuclear work.
- →You will advise the Lifting and Handling Deputy Director on technical lifting and handling issues.
- →You will be responsible for development and maintenance of a strategic plan, including a capital purchase program.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
