You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the Submarine Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager (DRPM SUBS) Engineering Directorate of PEO SSN.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the Deputy CHENG in the Engineering Technical Domain Department managing technical standards, driving development of engineering solutions, and providing stewardship for engineering disciplines to support multiple TEAMSUB programs.
- →You will be responsible for managing the development, issuance, and maintenance of technical standards, specifications, and requirements for all assigned technical domains.
- →You will manage and mentor engineering personnel in disciplines to include naval architecture, electrical engineering, structural engineering, marine engineering, hydrodynamics, and life support engineer with analysis.
- →You will manage and mentor the design of submarine systems, concept studies and design, modernization, conversions and repairs.
- →You will resolve critical engineering disputes across major defense acquisition programs.
- →You will provide executive leadership and strategic direction to the engineering workforce You will monitor and drive progress on technical reviews and submittals including drawings, system diagrams, calculations, technical manuals, test procedures and test results.
- →You will be responsible for leading special projects, breaking down communication barriers, adjudicating differing points of view from stakeholder organizations, and defining available options with associated risks.
- →You will drive the enterprise-wide adoption of advanced engineering practices with technical authority documents.
- →You will be responsible for succession planning and recruiting, employee career planning, escalations on technical issues, technical training opportunities, and assigning tasking.
- →You will interface with counterparts and Chief Engineers throughout DoN to ensure proper cross-organizational coordination and to share best practices.
- →You will design, implement, and oversee enterprise engineering strategies.
- →You will work with stakeholders to reach conclusions on critical matters with limited information and significant time constraints.
- →You will coordinate with technical experts in NAVSEA, field activities, private shipyards, and contractors to provide comprehensive solutions in support of mission effectiveness.
- →You will perform Supervisory Duties such as sound order and discipline, line management for people, timekeeping, leave, travel, workload management, individual training and development, and performance reviews, awards, and recognition.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
