About the Role

The Facilities Engineering Branch provides comprehensive architectural and engineering support services to FAA and other government organizations at the Technical Center. The Branch is responsible for oversight of all facility project implementation activities, including vendor coordination, construction management, and customer coordination.

What You'll Do

  • The Branch implements Technical Center Order, Construction and Facility Modification Authorization Program, NG 4443.1C and Master Planning and Site Selection Order, NG 5310.1.
  • The Section Manager Engineer in the ANG-E342 Section plays a vital role in overseeing and managing engineering and construction efforts to sustain and modernize the Technical Center.
  • They are accountable for ensuring the efficient execution of construction programs and engineering work that aligns with established policies, standards, and priorities while meeting the diverse needs of the campus stakeholders.
  • Specific duties include: Supervising and directing the work of subordinate employees across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure timely and quality completion of projects.
  • Managing capital improvement projects, infrastructure upgrades, and utility-related contracts while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of operating standards for services provided by the organization, tracking performance metrics, and ensuring adherence to parameters set by those standards.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with other organizations within the campus, including the FAA, Homeland Security, Coast Guard, and others, to ensure engineering services align with their needs.
  • Participating in cross-organizational planning efforts and contributing to long-term strategic goals concerning campus infrastructure and technical programs.
  • Reviewing and approving all necessary correspondence, reports, permits, contracts, and agreements tied to engineering and construction responsibilities.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and support to managers and employees to address and resolve operational challenges, consulting higher-level management as needed for complex issues or atypical situations.
  • Through these responsibilities, the Section Manager Engineer ensures the continued success of the Center's infrastructure and operational initiatives while advancing modernization efforts in line with organizational missions.
  • Typically directs the work of subordinate employees at the organizational unit level.
  • Work usually includes routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Managerial duties typically affect employees in one organizational unit and include: setting priorities; assigning tasks; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving leave; and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate.
