About the Role
The mission of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from our Nation's past conflicts to their families and our Nation. DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover and identify remains of DoW personnel unaccounted for from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, Iraq conflicts and the Persian Gulf War. The DPAA Director (SES-3) reports to the Under Secretary of War for Personnel & Readiness (USW(P&R)).
What You'll Do
- →Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Supports DPAA key leader engagements, and prepares decision memoranda, background papers, and high-level briefings for OSD leadership and inter-agency counterparts.
- →Negotiates and defends agency requirements to establish and sustain operational, tactical, and diplomatic relationships with host nation governments, U.S.
- →Embassy personnel, regional commands, non-governmental organizations, and local landowners to secure access to suspected loss incident sites.
- →Provides logistical sustainment, equipment, and command and control for investigation, disinterment, and recovery teams operating in often austere or hazardous overseas environments Assigns, plans, and schedules work based on Europe Mediterranean Directorate priorities, balancing workload and effectively utilizing staff skills.
- →Influences and persuades functional counterparts in response to legislative directions, often resolving competing priorities or resistance to agency initiatives.
