About the Role

This position is located at Stars & Stripes in Washington, D.C. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

What You'll Do

  • Bureau Chief (Theater Operations), the incumbent serves as senior editor, advisor, and reviewer for all writing/editing projects assigned or originating within the assigned region of Stars and Stripes.
  • Personally develops, designs, researches, writes, reviews, and edits publications and reports to the readership on a wide range of topics including complex subjects prone to controversy.
  • Serves as the staff advisor on written and editorial policy matters.
  • Provides interpretations of writing policy and advises on matters such as content, presentation, interpretation, and explanation to a variety of audiences.
  • Copy edits articles applying rules contained in the Associated Press (AP) and Stars and Stripes style guides.
  • Develops annual budget for the operation of the editorial department within the assigned theater.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferred are those candidates who possess a 4-yr course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree in journalism and related work experience as described above.
