What You'll Do

  • The Office of Procurement and Contracts (APC), Office of the Administrator (A) at the National Gallery of Art has the responsibility to negotiate, award, and administer the Gallery's contracts.
  • Requirements range from simple supplies to complex, multi-million dollar construction projects.
  • This position is APC's technical authority and operational manager and acts as the Chief in their absence.
  • The incumbent is responsible for supervising APC staff as well as planning, directing, coordinating and overseeing acquisition activities.
  • Duties for this position include Oversee and manage subordinate staff members, all acquisition services provided by the Department, including pre-award and post-award phases of acquisitions of various types, including services, supplies, architect and engineering services, and construction.
  • Directs the operation of the Department, including day-to-day acquisition support services.
  • Determines program priorities.
  • Formulates Department goals, objectives, and long range plans.
  • Develops and implements Department policies and procedures.
  • Develops and prepares budget goals, short and long-range budget plans for all Department opearations, and justifications for budget requests.
  • Works closely with the APC chief in budget decision-making for the Department, Supervises and manages subordinate staff in the Department by providing direction, leadership, counseling, and guidance.
  • Assigns and monitors staff workload.
  • Oversees staff training.
  • Initiates and/or reccommends personnel actions such as recruitment, promotion, award, disciplinary action, performance apprasials, and reassignment of subordinate staff.
