This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The duties of the Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist includes but is not limited to: Directs the operation of the clinical laboratory at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System Fort Wayne Campus.
- →Provides administrative support and staff assistance to the Laboratory Manager and/or Chief, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service who reports to the Chief of Clinical Support Services.
- →Develops position descriptions and performance standards, and conducts the annual performance ratings for all direct reports.
- →Serves as the approving official of performance plans and/or annual performance appraisals for these staff members.
- →Plans programs to be accomplished by laboratory staff, sets priorities and assigns work based on difficulty and requirements.
- →Advises and instructs lead personnel and general lab staff on both work and administrative matters.
- →Makes recommendations for selection, promotion, and reassignment of laboratory personnel at the Ft.
- →Wayne campus.
- →Counsels and resolves complaints from employees.
- →Reviews cases of disciplinary actions.
- →Participates in the resolution of Union and EEO complaints within Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service.
- →Identifies training needs of employees and recommends continuing education training modules; assures that all laboratory personnel completes the required hours of continuing education required by the VA Medical Center.
- →Advises the Laboratory Manager and/or Chief on safety issues and ensures that all employees attend safety orientations.
- →Ensures that all employees participate in fire, safety, and emergency preparedness drills as appropriate and provides personal protective equipment for employees; completes and submits all accident forms within the required time frames.
