About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Mission Support Directorate, Workforce and Resiliency Division. Location is negotiable to the following locations: Blaine, WA Laredo, TX San Diego, CA Savannah, GA Tucson, AZ

What You'll Do

  • Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S.
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security.
  • This position starts at a salary of $129,258.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to$168,040.00 (GS-14, Step 10).
  • To meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 year, with possible extensions for an additional 2 years.
  • You may be returned, at any time, to the position from which temporarily promoted, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay, and that the return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771.
  • At management's discretion, you may be permanently promoted to this position without further competition.
  • This first-line supervisory position manages and ensures the performance of the staff by coaching and mentoring the employees.
  • Typical duties include: Developing and implementing strategic plans, setting program goals, and monitoring progress.
  • Providing expert advice to higher-level officials, and represent the Resiliency programs in relevant discussions or meetings.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of existing programs and procedures and developing new methods or approaches to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency within the Resiliency programs which encompasses the following areas: Peer Support, Chaplain, Honor Guard, Mentorship and Veteran Services.
  • Promoting and policing management accountability and operational integrity for border security initiatives by ensuring policy compliance for respective areas.
  • Ensuring that all Resiliency programs operate in compliance with relevant CBP and OFO policies, guidelines, and regulations to include effective management of resources allocated to the Resiliency Branch which may include budget, procurement, and property management.
  • Serving as a liaison to other federal agencies and managers in DHS and CBP.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.
  • Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess the Ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle.
  • A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required.
