About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, San Juan Field Office, Border Security Division, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

What You'll Do

  • Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S.
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security.
  • This position starts at a salary of $152,040.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to$197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
  • Salary above excludes COLA.
  • Please see the following link for specific COLA Rates COLA Rates Major duties for this position include: Directing the planning and execution of assignments, projects, studies or investigations intended to explore and resolve major operational and law enforcement problems, or to develop, improve or install new procedures.
  • Providing assistance to port personnel to continually improve and assist in making adjustments to the core processes of inspection, intelligence analysis, examination, and lawenforcement activities, to include the investigation of violations of laws enforced by CBP and the apprehension, detention and arrest relating to arrival and departure.
  • Guiding and leading thinking and planning for the execution of the substantive processes/strategies (i.e., Passenger/Outbound and Anti-Smuggling/K-9, Trade/Outbound/Agriculture/Fines, Penalties and Forfeitures) initiated and spelled out in some detail by the national office.
  • Managing through subordinate supervisors and managers significant programs that cross overfunctional areas to include on-site operational training programs and Intelligence Driven Special Operations involving multiple locations and managers.
  • If going from a LEO Covered Position to a Secondary CBPO Special Retirement Covered (SRC) Position: Please be advised that when you enter on duty in this Secondary CBPO SRC position you will no longer be covered under the Special Retirement System for Law Enforcement Officers, but will only be covered under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).

  • In accordance with CBP Directive No. 1335-018, U.S.
  • Customs and Border Protection Rotation Program and to meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 year(s), with possible extension(s) for an additional 2 year(s), for a maximum of 5 years.
  • You may be returned, at any time, to the permanent assignment within the Office of Field Operations.
  • The Office of Field Operations may utilize flexibility to be placed within any sub-office/directorate and to place you in the same or similar position with equivalent grade and pay.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S.
  • Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess the Ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle.
  • A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required.
