Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Seattle Field Office, Area Port of Sweetgrass, located in Great Falls, Montana.
What You'll Do
- →Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S.
- →Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security.
- →This position starts at a salary of $152,040.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
- →In this Supervisory CBP Officer (Area Port Director) position you will become a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals leading and managing a variety of law enforcement programs.
- →Typical work assignments include: Providing oversight to and managing the activities of the subordinate ports within their area of responsibility.
- →Providing technical advice on the admissibility of travelers; import/export of cargo/merchandise and articles accompanying persons; international mail compliance; arrival/departure of vessels, aircraft, and vehicles involved in international trade; and/or anti-smuggling and terrorist activities.
- →Evaluating employees and discussing progress toward performance goals and identifying areas that need improvement.
- →Executing significant budgets for overtime, operations, facilities, fleet, procurement, and other functions.
- →Ensuring appropriate supervisor approval, and provides higher-level approval where required, for admissibility, administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings.
- →In accordance with CBP Directive No. 1335-018, U.S.
- →Customs and Border Protection Rotation Program and to meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 years with possible extensions for an additional two (2) years, in one (1) year increments for a maximum of 5 years.
- →You may be returned, at any time, to the permanent assignment within the Office of Field Operations.
- →The Office of Field Operations may utilize flexibility to be placed within any sub-office/directorate and to place you in the same or similar position with equivalent grade and pay.
- →The return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a U.S.
- ✓Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess the Ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle.
- ✓A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required.

- ✓Selectee(s) are required to attend and successfully complete 101-days of paid training at the CBP Field Operations Academy (FOA) in Glynco, GA.
- ✓Prior to arriving at the FOA, selectee's must complete approximately 7-10 days of pre-academy training.
- ✓Upon successful completion of FOA training, selectee's must complete an additional 14-17 weeks of post-academy training the selectee(s) assigned duty station.
- ✓You may be required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment.
- ✓Failure to successfully complete the required course(s) of training in accordance with CBP standards and policies will result in placement into either a former or different position, demotion, or separation as determined by management and appropriate procedures.
