These vacancies are located in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Wildlife Services (WS). The incumbent will serve as either the National Wildlife Disease Coordinator or National Rabies Coordinator providing national leadership in strategic planning, development, coordination, and implementation of cooperative programs designed to contain, monitor and eliminate wildlife diseases.
What You'll Do
- →The duties described are for the full-performance level.
- →At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Interacts in a technical and representational capacity with various federal, state departments, and other organizations on issues involving wildlife disease surveillance.
- →Works closely with cooperators on funding issues and apprises Congress and OMB of national disease program accomplishments.
- →May participate and represent Wildlife Services (WS) in national and international professional meetings critical to the national wildlife disease program goals.
- →Develops, implements, and evaluates wildlife disease management strategies and develops and implements business plans.
- →Works closely with budget personnel, including WS State budgetary personnel, program cooperators, and stakeholders on funding strategies and allocation of resources.
- →Assures that standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are developed and implemented to streamline the coordination of field activities conducted by WS personnel.
