About the Role

You will serve as a Supervisory Aerospace Engineer in the Mechanical Subsystems Division within the F/A-18 & EA-18G Fleet Support Team (FST) at FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a supervisor, technical advisor, and spokesperson within their program area.
  • You will negotiate, advise, and collaborate with all levels of officials in industry.
  • You will assist in the development and execution of the planning, directing, and prioritizing of activities concerning the area under supervision and, therefore, must routinely adapt to frequent and unpredictable changes in programs and funds.
  • You will provide resources and processes to support and maintain the intended mission capability; to maintain inherent design capabilities of the systems at the minimum expenditure of resources; and to achieve readiness goals.
  • You will ensure that the team's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals objectives, work plan and work products and services.
  • You will lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing the workload and tasks among employees in accordance with establish workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.
  • You will plan and/or conduct extensive technical aerospace engineering investigations individually, as a member of a team, or as team leader, depending on the complexity of the project and assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
