Staff Psychologist - Home Based Primary Care

About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Staff Psychologist position is located in the Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) service within the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service Line at the Ralph H.
- →Johnson VA Medical Center.
- →The duties and responsibilities are carried out within the RHJ VAMC Network, including the main hospital and all CBOCs, as well as in Veteran's homes.
- →The VA Home-Based Primary Care program provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary primary care services in the homes of veterans with complex and chronic, disabling disease.
- →In addition to primary care interventions, HBPC provides palliative care, rehabilitation, disease management, and care coordination services for older adults.
- →This position functions as the primary mental health provider of the HBPC team, providing mental health prevention, assessment, treatment, management, and professional consultation services.
- →Staff psychologists at this level diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or cognitive screenings and assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders, and may conduct research.
- →Major duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical Responsibilities Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders and behavioral health conditions.
- →Provides education to patients, family members and significant others.
- →Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family and group psychotherapy.
- →Provides consultation to professional staff within VAMC, and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
- →Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
- →Functions independently as a member of the VAMC Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges.
- →Assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions and documentation.
