About the Role
You will serve as a Supervisory Environmental Planner in the Environmental Planning and Conservation Division of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII. This is an interdisciplinary position and will be filled as a Community Planner, Natural Resources Specialist, Environmental Engineer, or Physical Scientist. Your salary will be increased by the applicable cost of living allowance (COLA), which is subject to change without notice. Current rate is 8.64%.
What You'll Do
- →Perform supervisory duties for the team, including work assignments, performance appraisals, and timesheet approvals, while also managing the team's financial budget.
- →Optimize the use of resources by managing workload distribution, work priorities and effectively communicating associated risks.
- →Foster clear communication and provide regular feedback on staff performance and behavior through one-on-one and staff meetings.
- →Serve as a subject matter expert on environmental planning products and principal environmental legislation (e.g., NEPA) and advise leadership on requirements and risk considerations.
- →Develop staff by providing technical guidance, training opportunities and special assignments to support their Individual Development Plans.
- →Oversee complex, multi-disciplinary environmental projects from start to finish to ensure they on time and on budget.
- →Develop scopes of work (SOWs) and independent government cost estimates (IGEs) for Products and Services.
- →Serve as Contracting Officer’s Representatives (CORs) on contract task orders and manage the successful award and subsequent administration of task orders.
Requirements
- ✓Note: Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. 0801 General Engineer Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
