About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology, Chief of Staff, located in Ashburn, VA. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise in qualitative system and management support principles processes and systems to support major missions.
  • This position starts at a salary of $102,415.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

  • In this Special Assistant position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals to providing direct, confidential support and advice to leadership.
  • Typical work assignments include: Serving as the principal administrative point of contact for the executive senior leaders within an organization, providing a variety of administrative guidance and support requiring knowledge and analysis of a variety of areas.
  • Managing the executive senior leaders' calendars, scheduling interviews, travel arrangements, meetings, and conferences attended by the executive senior leaders, which routinely occur with other high-ranking officials within CBP, DHS, and other Federal agencies.
  • Responsible for answering sensitive and complex, inquires, comments, and complaints, which involve issues pertaining to CBP programs and policies.
  • Identifying and implementing efficiency improvements by analyzing, streamlining, and automating cumbersome or time-consuming manual administrative processes.
  • Providing a variety of administrative support requiring analysis of a variety of areas, to include assistance with office-wide programs administered by OIT, such as the Awards Programs, employee engagement, and internal communications initiatives.
