About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The Clinical Social Worker (MSW) will serve under the Mental Health & Behavioral Health Sciences Service (MH&BHSS) at VA Caribbean Health Care System (VACHS).
- →This position has the potential to work in multiple different settings within MH&BHSS dependent on clinical needs.
- →VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major duties but are not limited to: The incumbent will develop a behavioral health psychosocial assessment of the Veteran in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Veteran, family members and significant others.
- →Demonstrates an understanding of the range of treatment and skills needed for all adult patients including geriatric patients related to their physical limitations, psychological needs and age associated illnesses and conditions.
- →Responsible for an understanding of the problems of advancing age and respect for the diversification of the aging Veteran population, being sensitive to human growth and development, age-appropriate needs and concerns of the geriatric Veteran, and be able to provide current and advanced techniques to the treatment of this Veteran population.
- →Initialing behavioral health psychosocial assessment will be completed by the time of the Veteran's third visit.
- →Responsible for participating in the development of the initial individualized treatment plan and setting treatment goals as identified by Veteran with SMART objectives that will be specific, measurable, achievable and relevant for the Veteran/family.
- →The social worker is responsible for the review/update of the treatment plan of the patients.
- →Provide the Veterans, their family/significant others and caregivers with ongoing evidence based therapeutic interventions (individual, group, family and couples therapy).
- →Social worker will facilitate response and proper management of documents related with the State Mental Health Law 408 for involuntary services, this includes but is not limited to, writing of reports, case discussion with the interdisciplinary team and promote family involvement in the process.
- →Collaborate with interdisciplinary team in reassessing the Veteran's needs.
- →Work Schedule: A variety of work schedules are available; Work schedule will be determined upon selection.
- →NOTE: May be expected to work rotating weekends and holidays.
- →Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor.
