About the Role

The Caregiver Support Program Manager leads the local facility's caregiver support services, overseeing implementation of national CSP initiatives - including the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) and general caregiver support services - for family caregivers of eligible Veterans.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The medical care, mental health, and psychosocial needs of Veterans receiving Caregiver Support Program services are complex, with an increased burden upon their caregivers, requiring a high degree administrative and clinical oversight, advanced technical consultation, creative problem solving and personal mastery skills.
  • The incumbent provides the full range of supervisory duties which would include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations, selection of staff, training of staff, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary actions.
  • The Social Worker Program Coordinator should have at least two years in an area of specialized social work practice and must be independently licensed or certified by a state to practice at the advanced practice levels.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Program Leadership: Directs day-to-day CSP operations, develops local policy and procedures, and ensures compliance with VA Central Office and VISN-level program requirements.
  • Clinical Oversight: Supervises CSP clinical and administrative staff, including social workers and case managers; provides training and professional development.
  • Outreach: Develops and implements outreach strategies to identify and connect eligible Veterans and caregivers with CSP services, including those not currently enrolled in VA health care.
  • Coordination: Partners with clinical services across the medical center (nursing, mental health, primary care, therapy services) to integrate caregiver support into Veteran care.
  • Reporting & Accountability: Monitors performance measures; prepares reports for facility, VISN, and national leadership; responds to inquiries from stakeholders, including congressional offices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Briefs internal and external partners on caregiver needs and CSP services.
  • Coordinates program implementation with multiple clinical services across all campus, locations within the VA Health Care System (HCS), including but not limited to; nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapists, and mental health and primary care providers.
  • Provide clinical interventions to the Veteran and caregiver populations served by the programs.
  • Establishes and maintains an ongoing education program for Veterans, caregivers, community agencies, students, and staff to facilitate understanding of clinical practice guidelines, mental health issues, readjustment issues and psychosocial issues facing caregivers.
  • Develops and facilitates CSP-program focused direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for VA facility staff and the community.
  • Coordinates program implementation with multiple clinical services across all campus locations within the VA facility, including but not limited to: nursing; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; mental health and primary care providers.
