About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but aren't limited to: Provide direct services to Veterans residing in the residential rehabilitation program, including those in substance use and homeless domiciliary programs.
  • Coordinate care activities such as groups, case management, passes, patient education, interdisciplinary activities, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Complete psychosocial screening and assessment in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, Veterans, and family members or significant others.
  • Identify Veterans' strengths, limitations, internal and external supports, service needs, functional status, and safety needs.
  • Provide referrals, consults, and education related to VA programs, community resources, entitlements, and services.
  • Advocate for Veterans and families when in their best interest, while encouraging Veterans to advocate for themselves.
  • Provide supportive counseling to Veterans and families, including education on addiction and recovery support.
  • Document Veteran and family contacts in the electronic record using appropriate formats and templates.
  • Maintain working relationships with VA staff, volunteers, consumers, stakeholders, and community agencies.
  • Follow procedures for suicide-risk evaluation and mitigation, including C-SSRS, Comprehensive Suicide Risk Evaluation, Safety Plans, and SBOR when clinically indicated.
  • GS-9 level duties include Perform duties under supervision and discuss clinical decisions with the clinical supervisor.
  • Assist with psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Contribute to treatment plan development and achievable goal setting with Veterans, families, significant others, and program staff.
  • Facilitate rapid assessments and crisis management planning under clinical supervision.
