Social Worker - Mental Health Clinic Director

About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

- →Durham VAMC, Garner, Greenville, Morehead City, and virtual clinics) and serves as Director of the General Mental Health Clinic.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator manages, directs, and oversees operation of the assigned General Mental Health Clinics.
- →The GMH staff is comprised of multidisciplinary BHIP teams of physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other staff members.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator/Director optimizes clinic operations to achieve Veteran and staff satisfaction, high-quality, recovery-driven care, efficiency, and adherence to VA policies and directives.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator/Director creates a clinic culture of effective teamwork, creative problem-solving, leadership, transparency and accountability.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator/Director establishes clear processes to develop, introduce and maintain policies in response to MH initiatives that affect the clinic.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator/Director, in collaboration with other MBHS leaders, communicates targeted information about MBHS, DVAHCS, and VHA initiatives to staff in a manner that maximizes understanding of context, impact on clinic care, and required responses.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator/Director supports and develops plans for both clinic autonomy and specialization, as well as teamwork at the clinic level.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator/Director engages champions and coordinators for key facility and MH initiatives to improve quality of care and adherence to required practices.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator independently provides clinical psychosocial and case management services at an advanced practice level to Veterans diagnosed with psychiatric disorders and their family members to meet biological, psychological, social, and environmental needs.
- →The Social Worker Coordinator serves as a Team Leader Consultant to Social Workers and other interdisciplinary staff in planning services for Veterans.
- →Veterans treated come from a wide geographic area.
- →Their health care and psychosocial problems and needs are complex and require a high degree of clinical oversight and creative problem solving.
Requirements
