About the Role

You will serve as a Shipbuilding Specialist (Planner) in the Waterfront Operations (WFO) Department (Code 300) of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.

What You'll Do

  • You will be the Shipbuilding Specialist for ships, boats and crafts assigned to the Southeast Region.
  • You will perform the specification planning, including estimating and material sourcing, evaluations, surveillance and monitoring of all repairs.
  • You will plan and coordinate on-site reviews for the evaluation of personnel protection/prevention and safety programs.
  • You will conduct daily shipboard safety inspections.
  • You will utilize the output of various contractor systems and procedures for cost estimating, labor and overhead, budgeting, purchasing and resource planning.
  • You will apply the full range of principles related to surface combatant ship repair and overhaul programs including ship modernization.

Requirements

  • In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR Possession of an LL.M. that is related to this position being filled.
  • OR A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
  • GS-09: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
  • OR Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
