About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →Duties: VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU The senior social worker in the SUD program independently performs case finding functions and outreach, identifying and screening patients for psychosocial needs.
- →Incumbent must possess the knowledge and ability to independently implement treatment modalities, provide counseling or psychotherapy for individuals, families and groups.
- →The senior social worker collaborates with the other members of the treatment 2 team in the provision of comprehensive health care services to Veterans, ensures equity of access, service, and benefits to this population, ensures the care provided is of the highest quality.
- →The senior social worker provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned social work staff.
- →They serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility, VISN and national level, or in the community as deemed appropriate by the supervisor, or Chief of Social Work Services.
- →Screening/Assessment - The senior social worker will develop an assessment of the Veteran in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Veteran, family members and significant others.
- →The goal of the assessment is to highlight the veteran's strengths, limitations, and internal/external supports and service needs in order to optimize the veteran's functional status.
- →The incumbent demonstrates an understanding of the range of treatment and skills needed for all adult patients including geriatric patients related to their physical limitations, substance use/abuse/dependence, psychological needs and age associated illnesses and conditions.
- →The senior social worker must have an understanding of the problems of advancing age and respect for the diversification of the aging veteran population, being sensitive to human growth and development, ageappropriate needs and concerns of the geriatric veteran and be able to provide current and advanced techniques to the treatment of this veteran population in relation to Substance use disorders.
- →It is the responsibility of the senior social worker, working within the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop a treatment plan with the Veteran based on this assessment for SUD Services.
- →Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families.
- →The senior social worker is able to independently work with patients and families who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems utilizing individual, group and family counseling and therapy skills.
- →Independently identifies high-risk patients and provides case management services.
- →The senior social worker provides crisis intervention services, seeking to address the cause as well as the presenting complaint, coordinates family conferences and serves as liaison to family members.
