About the Role

James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital is looking for a Senior Social Worker Program Coordinator who will be assigned to the HUD-VASH program. This position works with an interdisciplinary team and provides screening and consultative services to the team and other staff regarding the psychosocial and homeless needs of veterans and the impact that homelessness has on their well- being. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day-to-day functioning.

What You'll Do

  • →The selected Social Worker program coordinator oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for the facility, VISN, and national use.
  • →They may be responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery.
  • →The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service.
  • →They may be responsible for, or contribute to, the program's resource and fiscal management, monitoring control points developing the annual budget, operating within that budget, and accounting for appropriated funds.
  • →The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use.
  • →They provide leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff.
  • →They initiate and conduct a variety of program or service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, including productivity assessments.
  • →They oversee program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts.
  • →Incumbent meets the needs of customers while supporting VA MIssIons.
  • →Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
  • →Incumbent provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
  • →Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the consumer constructively and appropriately.
  • →Adhere to Service Line Agreements, (SLA) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for documentation.
  • →Adhere to approved templates and required standards for documentation as outlined by accrediting bodies such as Joint Commission, GARF, and/or revenue sources providing funding to VHA.

  • ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • ✓Must be able to meet physical demands which include strenuous physical activity to include carrying persons and equipment, walking long distances over difficult terrain, running, climbing, working long hours in primitive or arduous conditions, long periods of standing, and bending and stooping.
