About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

What You'll Do

  • The incumbent interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs.
  • Reviews all data, subjective and objective, and makes clinical assessment identifying needs and strengths.
  • Effectively uses professional skill, objectivity, and insight.
  • Uses advanced clinical training, insight, and experience to interpret data and to identify viable treatment options.
  • Assesses high risk factors, acuity, and need for services.
  • Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness.
  • The incumbent incorporates complex, multiple causations in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved scope of practice.
  • Assesses at-risk factors and develops a preliminary disposition plan involving the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family and/or significant other.
  • Responsible for the development of an appropriate treatment plan for Veterans written in behavioral terms with measurable objectives and concrete interventions, including goals for psychosocial clinical treatment.
  • The incumbent will update the treatment plan in accordance with timelines identified by VA policy.
  • The incumbent coordinates screening of patients for CRC program and provides ongoing treatment per guidelines.
  • Provide case management to Veterans that require substantial communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving and time management.
  • The incumbent utilizes various counseling approaches to include, but not limited to conflict resolution, anger management and effective/healthy coping skills.
  • Provides clinical services to Veterans and significant others in support of the Veteran's treatment utilizing evidenced based modalities.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
