This position is being filled under a stream-lined hiring authority, Title 21 of the United States Code (21 US Code 379d-3a) as amended by the 21st Century Cures Act of 2016, section 3072 and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, Section 3624. The candidate selected for this position will serve under a career or career-conditional appointment and be paid under the provisions of this authority. This position is being recruited based on the Title 21 Pay Table 3, Band D $186,850 - $308,724.
What You'll Do
- →Serves as an expert within the organizational unit and applies advanced professional theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods in the application of assigned duties.
- →Designs, operates, and directs inspections of clinical investigators, sponsors, monitors, contract research organizations, institutional review boards, and radioactive drug research committees, using a risk-based approach.
- →Completes analysis of complex data and integrates into written summaries used to inform regulatory, scientific, or policy decision making.
- →Interprets and applies drug regulations, policies, and guidance in the performance of assigned work; uses knowledge to support staff development through mentorship.
- →Produces authoritative recommendations related to clinical drug development/investigative new drugs or for drug review applications, submitted by manufacturers.
- →Consults with other medical specialists and scientists within FDA, and other government agencies, universities, hospitals, and research organizations to address areas of uncertainty.
- →Keeps abreast of the progress in medical and related sciences by reviewing the scientific literature, attending conferences, and participating in staff seminars.
- →Plans, designs, and carries out work, functions, and projects assigned by the supervisor.
