About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, New York Field Office, Fines, Penalties and Forfeitures Division, located in Queens, New York or Newark, New Jersey. This position will also cover the Dayton Centralized Storage Facility as part of the area of responsibility for the Port of New York/Newark.

What You'll Do

  • Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to provide for the inventory and safe storage of seized illegal narcotics and prohibited goods that have not met the requirements for entry into the U.S..
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen Homeland Security by providing expert technical direction on complex issues pertaining to seized property activities.
  • This position starts at a salary of $59,465.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $94,563.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to $137,128 (GS-12 Step 10).

  • As a Seized Property Specialist, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals overseeing the inventory and safe storage of seized illegal narcotics and prohibited goods.

  • Periods of outdoor work may be required in snow, rain, or extreme heat.
  • There is potential exposure to significant allergens, hazardous materials, gases, and dust specifically affiliated with destruction operations; and in different lighting conditions to include daylight to night time.
