About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0318-7, Secretary located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SILC CEU OAKLAND-PL BUSINESS OPERATIONS SECTION in OAKLAND, California.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a Secretary and be responsible for providing a wide variety of administrative and clerical support to CEU Commander/Product Line Manager, other management personnel and in general support of unit operations.
  • Coordinating office procedures for an organization with subordinate units with a mission that impacts a wide variety of field units and mission accomplishment.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Serving as focal point for office management services including mail, FEDEX, office supply, printer equipment, and Government vehicles.
  • Managing inventory, ordering office supplies, toner, etc.
  • Administering, planning, and executing a records management program for unit correspondence, personnel and other internal office administrative data and records.
  • Providing customer service as first point of contact to public/visitors for unit; receiving visitors and telephone inquiries to the office.
  • Ascertaining nature of call/visitors, and directing visitors/callers to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinating logistics for meetings and conferences such as location, schedule, agenda, and attendance lists.
  • Assembling background material to be used during special events and activities of the command.
  • Typing/compiling variety of reports and correspondence.
  • Reviewing outgoing correspondence to ensure compliance with command policies and procedures.
  • Checking for completeness, timeliness, and format standards.
  • Reading directive and instructional material pertaining to administrative practices and program procedures which may impact administrative action documents.
