About the Role

This position is eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

What You'll Do

  • →The Community Living Center (CLC) Registered Nurse serves as a clinical leader responsible and accountable for the delivery and oversight of complex resident care in a long-term care setting.
  • →The incumbent applies advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes, enhance care delivery processes, and support organizational performance goals.
  • →The RN collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care, promote patient-centered outcomes, and lead quality improvement initiatives that positively impact care beyond the immediate practice setting.
  • →Major Duties Provides assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of resident care.
  • →Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and improve outcomes.
  • →Uses evidence-based practice to support quality care and patient safety.
  • →Advocates for Veterans, families, and caregivers while providing patient-centered care.
  • →Collaborates with the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Coordinator to ensure accurate documentation and Resource Utilization Group (RUG) scoring.
  • →May be required to work other shifts, be on call, work weekends and/or holidays as patient care and needs of the service require.
  • →Should operational needs dictate, candidates must be willing to work within other units (including community based outpatient clinics, for example) to assist and support continuation of the provision of care/services.

Requirements

  • ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
