About the Role
The VA Western Colorado Health Care System is looking for a Risk Management Program Manager for the VISN 19 Grand Junction VAMC.
What You'll Do
- →The Nurse Program Manager (PM) Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of program aspects.
- →The PM demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to impact the standard of care and safety of staff while caring for all patients throughout the continuum of care.
- →The PM is responsible for leading a facility wide program for all services within the organization that meets the requirements of National Directives.
- →They will oversee the provision of staff education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement consultation related to the program.
- →Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
- →Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence.
- →Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement.
- →Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals.
- →Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team.
- →Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes.
- →Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
- →Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care.
- →Participates in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence-based-practice culture.
- →The PM continuously evaluates the program, collecting and submitting facility performance measures.
Requirements
- ✓Preferred candidate will have proven ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate clinical and organizational risks, and will be familiar with the regulatory, ethical, and legal aspects of healthcare risk management.
- ✓The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical experience and leadership in risk management within a healthcare setting.
- ✓Preferred experience includes implementing and evaluating risk management issues, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with national standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, VHA Directives).
- ✓Preferred candidate would exhibit awareness and knowledge of leadership skills and facility wide collaboration regarding daily clinical operations and has some experience with technical, legal and administrative issues within a clinical setting.
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
