About the Role
The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Rheumatologist to be an integral part of the Rheumatology Service at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. The incumbent applicant should possess leadership, energy, compassion, and commitment to serve those who serve our Country.
What You'll Do
- →The James J.
- →Peters Bronx VA Medical Center is seeking a Rheumatologist.
- →Responsibilities will include the provision of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with rheumatologic disorders; performance of bedside musculoskeletal ultrasound; and supervision of Rheumatology fellows, Internal Medicine residents and medical students.
- →The successful candidate will be expected to engage in clinical research projects already underway, and to develop new initiatives.
- →The James J Peters VAMC is a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University Medical Center, and the candidate will be appointed at Columbia-Presbyterian at an academic level commensurate his or her experience.
- →The candidate must have completed fellowship training in Rheumatology, and be board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology.
- →He/she must have a full, unrestricted medical license in any state.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued dentification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
