About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator must demonstrate a high level of clinical, managerial, and leadership skills.
- →The coordinator must have knowledge and adhere to Veterans Health Administration policies, procedures, and evidenced-based practice in Long Term Care.
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator has knowledge of current Long-Term Care (LTC) standards of The Joint Commission (TJC), the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and its application to the RAI-MDS process.
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator in the GEC and CLC is a self-directed quality specialist professional nurse with a broad-based clinical knowledge appointed to effectively implement health promotion, prevention, and management of skilled care and chronic illness, and care of the dying.
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator position is an administrative person assigned to a nurse that demonstrates the skills and abilities to manage and coordinate the facility RAI-MDS Program.
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator is a vital role in providing oversight in the coordination and facilitation of the RAI-MDS process/program and must demonstrate a high level of clinical, analytical and leadership skills and is competent in conducting and reporting quality measures and performance improvement activities.
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator has a specialized body of knowledge of current Long-Term Care (LTC) standards of The Joint Commission (TJC), the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and its application to the RAI-MDS process.
- →The RAI-MDS Coordinator is accountable for the overall RAI-MDS program process.
- →The Facility Director, GEC Leadership, CLC Medical Director, and Chief Nurse of GEC is accountable for changes that effectively support the program and is responsive to the Quality Measures and other Performance Measures.
- →May be required to work other shifts, be on call, work weekends and/or holidays as patient care and needs of the service require.
- →Should operational needs dictate, candidates must be willing to work within other units (including community based outpatient clinics, for example) to assist and support continuation of the provision of care/services.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
