About the Role
You will serve as a Research Physicist within NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. What You'll Do
- →You will conduct research, analysis, modeling, testing and evaluation leading to the fielding of laser-based countermeasures systems to defeat EO/IR-guided threats.
- →You will contribute to written technical reports and give oral presentations of the methods and results of mathematical modeling.
- →You will perform behavior modeling of missile engagements using mathematical analysis tools such as MATLAB, government software written in C++ and Python.
- →You will conduct research on the applications of the electromagnetic and quantum phenomena as it applies to electronic warfare system development.
- →You will utilize and develop new features for a high-fidelity physics model of missile engagements.
Requirements
- ✓Basic RequirementApplicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- ✓In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
- ✓In lieu of specialized experience the following may be substituted: Master's or equivalent graduate degree
