About the Role
This position is located at the Wilmington VA Medical Center for Wound Care. The Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of complex wound care patients. Coordinates care by serving as an expert clinician and patient/resident advocate in wound management.
What You'll Do
- →The wound clinic RN collaborates with the wound care team.
- →The RN working in this area must be adaptable to changing populations and must be able to work with a multitude of providers as well.
- →The RN must gather data, assess, utilize appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluate responses to actual or potential health problems.
- →Follow up includes such services as telephone services, teaching, referral services, provision of care, and executing medical treatments and /or orders prescribed by the ordering provider and in a timely fashion.
- →These treatments may include but are not limited to- injections, education of self- injection, compression stockings and dressing changes.
- →The RN must recognize the need for urgent intervention and act accordingly.
- →The RN is expected to be autonomous and self-directed and seek supervisory direction when appropriate.
- →The RN is expected to lead the group by example and by demonstrating leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with all disciplines.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment evaluation.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
