About the Role
The Hampton VA Health Care System Center is a 1-C, teaching facility serving Eastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. The main campus is in Hampton, Virginia with 4 community-based outpatient clinics in Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, Virginia and Elizabeth City, North Carolina. There is one new Health Care Center in Chesapeake VA.
What You'll Do
- →The Women's Health/Gynecology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex Women's Health Program.
- →Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
- →Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve Women's Health care beyond the clinic setting.
- →Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.
- →The functions of the GYN RN include, but are not limited to: Fully participate and successfully complete established training for the position.
- →Assists GYN providers in direct patient care, monitors quality of care and contributes to ongoing program development.
- →Monitors, tracks and coordinates care or the Veterans pre-operatively and post- operatively.
- →Maintains knowledge of resources available to support patients in the care before and after any GYN procedure or surgery.
- →Documenting patient care interactions accurately, succinctly, and timely, using appropriate notes, templates, and clinical reminders, in the electronic medical record.
- →Contacts Veterans following procedures and/or surgeries to conduct follow up via phone or video appointment.
- →This will not replace the GYN provider's follow up but instead will enhance the care of the veteran.
- →Ensures Veterans schedule a post-surgical/procedure follow up as indicated.
- →Maintains current knowledge of maternal health.
- →Supports Hampton VAMC, its CBOC's and HCC Women's Health Program Initiatives.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
