About the Role
The Domiciliary Mental Health (MH) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care. The domiciliary RN provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with substance use disorder and/or MH conditions. The domiciliary RN actively participates in MH interdisciplinary treatment team, patient safety and environment of care rounds, and responds to psychiatric and medical care needs as directed.
What You'll Do
- →The primary responsibilities of this Registered Nurse may vary by assignment.
- →Those duties may include but not limited to: Deliver professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with general supervision.
- →Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks ensuring assigned delegated tasks are completed by team members.
- →Provide Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for assigned patients.
- →Communicate and collaborate as an effective member of the interprofessional team, demonstrating progression from team member to team leader.
- →Establish a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to achieve optimal function through assessment and treatment of their health enhancing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety.
- →Demonstrates the ability to communicate confidently with members of the healthcare team and demonstrate professional behaviors that promotes cooperation and teamwork.
- →Seeks knowledge and learning opportunities that support current nursing practice and self-evaluation.
- →Applies evidence-based practice/research, considering patient preferences to improve quality of care and resource utilization for assigned patients.
- →Seek out new learning opportunities and share evidence-based practice/research with peers to improve patient care.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
