About the Role
The Day Shift Pain Management Registered Nurse (RN) will assist our Veterans at the Leavenworth and Topeka, KS VAMCs.
What You'll Do
- →ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Assists physician(s) with nursing-related care for pain procedures.
- →Performs pre- and post-procedural care of pain patients.
- →Performs ambulatory pain clinic nursing care.
- →Provides full range of nursing services utilizing the nursing process.
- →Assess the needs of Veterans and caregivers while coordinating services across a multidisciplinary team.
- →Deliver education focused on chronic disease management, reducing hospitalizations, and promoting independence.
- →Build strong, supportive relationships with Veterans and their families.
- →Administers prescribed therapies using nursing judgement.
- →Promotes discharge planning and follow up care as needed.
- →Listens to and includes patient and family in plan of care.
- →Provide feedback and patient education.
- →Communicates with Veterans on their health care options including local VA, other VA medical centers and community-based eligibility.
- →Educates providers on medical management processes.
- →Provides clinical knowledge and acts as a clinical resource to non-clinical multidisciplinary staff.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
