About the Role
The Registered Nurse Neurology is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurses obligation to provide optimal specialty care. This nurse provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease and chronic care management. This position is located at University Drive VAMC Pittsburgh.
What You'll Do

- →The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction.
- →This nurse provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease and chronic care management.
- →The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills.
- →Duties and Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse Neurology include but are not limited to: 1.
- →Provides care and oversight for veterans assigned to the Neurology Outpatient Clinic 2.
- →Collaborates with the Neurology Section Chief to meet clinical performance measures 3.
- →Attends environment of care rounds, reports, deficiencies to the medicine/ specialty nurse manager and neurology chief. 4.Participates in Neurology Staff meeting, Medicine specialty meeting and assigned work groups 5.Assess walk-in patients and addresses/ resolves clinical concerns 6.
- →Monitors Neurology Resources and supplies to ensure availability 7.
- →Monitors Neurology supplies and ensures availability 8.
- →Assists providers with coordination of medication, Botox administration and assist with procedures 9.
- →Coordinates care of the complex neurology patient 10.
- →Responsible for coordinating daily patient flow into and out of the clinic 11.
- →Participates in professional practice council and QI projects 12.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
