About the Role
This Registered Nurse (Inpatient/Intermittent) position is located within the Nursing, Operations service line of the VA Providence Healthcare System. This is an intermittent (per diem) position.
What You'll Do
- →The Registered Nurse (Inpatient/Intermittent) position delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →Duties included but are not limited to: Provides comprehensive, safe and effective nursing care to patients admitted to inpatient medical-surgical and step-down levels of care.
- →Documents initial/ongoing patient assessment and plan of care.
- →Makes quick and accurate assessments in the care of acute and chronically ill patients.
- →Identifies and manages life-sustaining physiological functions in unstable patients.
- →Has knowledge of normal and abnormal findings and reports findings.
- →Has knowledge of telemetry, hemodynamics, phlebotomy, basic IV and central line skills.
- →Educates and/or monitors the patients regarding procedures, treatments, and discharge information Attends code blues and rapid responses as needed.
- →Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
