About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible apply.

- →Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).

- →The incumbent conducts psychiatric evaluations, develops treatment plans, and implements treatment, and provides clinical management for a variety of complex mental health conditions, including, but not limited to : Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and other related conditions.
- →Treatment planning focuses on utilization of pharmacological interventions as well as appropriate referral for additional studies and / or for adjunctive psychosocial interventions.
- →Treatment planning also involves informing patients of risks, benefits, and alternative treatments and answering all questions.
- →Incumbent will provide consultation to Veterans' families/ caregivers as well as mid-level providers and other professional staff on the assessment, education, and treatment of Veterans with complex clinical problems.
- →Position requires a working knowledge of advanced psychopharmacology, substance abuse treatment, and psychotherapy.
- →Incumbent will provide some services by the way of tele-mental.
- →In collaboration with the team, incumbent selects appropriate treatment form a variety of resources and clinical approaches including non-direct and cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification, insight-oriented methods, family therapy, relaxation training, medication management, ect.
- →Ongoing treatment involves monitoring for effectiveness and adverse effects with the goal of full symptom remission.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
