About the Role

This position serves as the Program Support Assistant for the Nurse Recruiter at Lexington VA Health Care System and serves as the primary support staff for coordination of Nursing applications for all full-time, part-time and fee basis Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Nursing Assistants/ Health techs and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), facility wide.

What You'll Do

  • The Program Support Assistant provides technical, clerical and administrative support to the Associate Director of Patient Care Services, and direct reports to include but not limited to Chief Nurses, Social Work, Sterile Processing and PCS support staff, as directed.
  • Major duties include but not limited to: Prepares recruitment materials for job fairs and college events, ensures adequate number of application packets are available.
  • Maintains a calendar of appointments, meetings, conferences, and deadlines for the Nurse recruiter.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers, constructively and appropriately.
  • Schedules appointments for interviews and/or walk-in applicants, responds to inquiries regarding vacancies, recruitment initiatives and the hiring/application process in a courteous manner.
  • Types a variety of documents into final form, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style.
  • Utilizes a computer and applications to extract pertinent data, prepare a variety of reports, regenerate tables, and graphs.
  • Utilizes a range of software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) to prepare correspondence.
  • Assists with special projects and data collection.
  • Responsible for the preparation and acquisition of supplies and services related to nurse recruitment activities, career fairs and on boarding surge events.
  • Schedules meetings, transcribes minutes, gathers reports, and tracks actions for committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
