About the Role

This position is to support the Deputy Chief Nurse Executive for the assigned Perry Point site and assist in accomplishing the mission of the VA Medical Health Care System. The Administrative Specialist is located at the site that the Deputy Chief Nurse Executive designates as primary office; however, the Deputy Chief Nurse maintains office space at numerous sites and the Administrative Specialist may be required to accompany the Deputy Chief Nurse Executive to multiple sites.

What You'll Do

  • Duties to include but not limited to: Collects program reports, statistical data, and program performance monitors/measures from programs and services.
  • Plans and accomplishes special projects using standard approaches to perform a variety of duties related to special projects involving administrative or support issues.
  • Conducts extensive research and compilation of data from diverse sources, and extracts and assembles information, conducts analysis and develops reports or presentations.
  • Provides guidance to various secretaries/administrative support personnel throughout the VA Medical Health Care System on procedural matters.
  • Assists the Nursing Service employees such as the Associate Chief Nurses, and Nurses Managers with training on the appropriate memos, and correspondences.
  • Responsible for directing the work of others, such as other clinical/administrative clerical staff.
  • Assures the Chief Nurse Executive deadlines are met and the daily needs of the Deputy Chief Nurse Executive office are completed.
  • Maintains the appointment schedule for the Deputy Chief Nurse Executive.
  • Establishes and maintains personal file correspondence and documents.
  • Provides travel/conference arrangements, prepares travel vouchers/reports and arranges for meetings held locally.
  • Functions as back-up timekeeper.
  • Preferred Experience: Administrative Specialist experience Healthcare work experience Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday Compressed/Flexible: Not Authorized Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.
