The incumbent will work as a Program Specialist for Rehabilitation Service at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for this complex service including but not limited to: data collection and analysis to evaluate Rehabilitation Service workflow, personnel administration, budget management, environment of care oversight, ADPAC/IT support and special projects assigned by the Administrative Officer and/or Section Chiefs.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties and Responsibilities: Organizational Support- Conducts studies, analyzes, and identifies the needs of Rehabilitation Service and devises specific solutions to meet those needs.
- →Reviews data and performs limited studies, summarizes information, identifies trends and proposes and implements solutions.
- →Researches, analyzes and responds to time-critical requests within the established timeframes and initiates actions and changes to resolve identified problems.
- →Assists with consult management such as keeping abreast of VHA and Medical Center guidelines, tracking consult data and assisting the Service in meeting expectations for consult completion.
- →Performs wide range of duties related to productivity/workload capture including maximizing clinic utilization rates, managing clinic profiles, working with HR to ensure correct person class assignment and collaborates with DSS to ensure accurate labor mapping.
- →Demonstrates working knowledge of national productivity cubes/data sources.
- →Creates systems and tools to collect, track and analyze individual providers' workload.
- →Creates and maintains automated statistical patient care databases, does data entry, and retrieves information as needed for patient care, the completion of reports, for supplemental information, and to supply statistical information to the Chief of Rehabilitation Service, Section Chiefs or Administrative Officer of Rehabilitation Service as requested.
- →Conducts compilation of data from diverse sources.
- →Extracts and assembles information, conducts analysis and develops reports or presentations.
- →Correspondence Control/Credentialing Receives, manages and/or prepares responses to correspondence within the Rehabilitation Service and the Medical Center and with external agencies.
- →Assembles background information, reports and attachments by obtaining information from various sources.
- →Coordinates information and responses with appropriate staff and services to assure consistency and conformance with Rehabilitation Service and Medical Center policies.
- →Works with HR and the credentialing/privileging staff to facilitate credentialing process for new staff, fee basis, or contract providers.

- ✓Physical Requirements: The work requires minor physical effort such as bending, stooping, unpacking supplies, considerable walking to all areas of the medical center, desk-based activities such as computer keyboarding, filing, telephoning, and clinic-based tasks such as equipment and environment of care inspections.
- ✓The incumbent must be able to sustain periods of focused concentration.
- ✓Incumbent must demonstrate tolerance for frequent interruptions.
