About the Role

The Program Specialist position serves as representative of the Office of Community Care (OCC) in Erie VA Medical Center, and reports to the Chief, Health Administration Service (HAS). Position acts as a liaison between the medical center and community stakeholders to improve the experience of Community Providers most associated in providing services to Veterans and support local VAMC operations in meeting established goals and objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties: Provides and assists with establishing monitoring tools and performance metrics to evaluate Network Capacity, provider relationships and other performance and compliance.
  • Recommend corrective action for optimal efficiency within the department and interrelated programs.
  • Make formal and informal presentations outlining the history, status, and objectives of all functional responsibilities.
  • Service existing contracts including ongoing cost/benefits analyst of contracts and agreements, management of critical issues and participates in strategic and tactical planning for programs issues in which which Care in the Community is involved.
  • Develops, maintains and executes tasks related to project management necessary for the assessment and analysis of projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of administrative laws, policies, regulations and precedents applicable to the administration of the program to analyze the efficiency of the local program and recommend solutions.
  • Gathers facts and resolves conflicts of information or interpretation and develops cases in accordance with applicable policies, procedural manuals, and other guidelines, and coordinates resolution development appropriate operating offices.
