About the Role
This position is located in the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Safety and Technical Training, Director of Technical Training (AJI-2). This Directorate provides a national training program to build and maintain a certified and mission-ready operations workforce from hire to retire.
What You'll Do
- →The Program Manager applies detailed knowledge of a wide variety of complex administrative programs and support areas as well as knowledge of management and program principles, to manage a geographically dispersed staff consisting of senior analysts, technical specialists, and ad hoc multidisciplinary teams.
- →Directs the staff by applying technical training methods, techniques, and competencies.
- →Guides staff in analyzing and evaluating complex national training programs and policies designed to ensure that ATO technical training programs leverage appropriate adult learning principles.
- →Participates in the development and maintenance of the National Technical Training Business Plan.
- →This work is critical to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) operational training programs that transform and sustain the NAS and that directly impact the safe and efficient operation of the ATO.
- →The Team Manager uses a thorough understanding of the principles of management and strategic planning to integrate multiple national training programs.
- →Develops plans, policies, and programs.
- →Approves substantive personnel actions, such as selections and promotions, involving non-managerial employees.
- →Uses detailed knowledge of budget policies and procedures to define, acquire and allocate budget and other resources accomplish objectives for multiple organizational units/projects/ programs and across multiple functions and/or disciplines.
- →This includes managing the budget and either reallocating resources among organizational units or acquires additional resources, as needed.
- →Projects short and long term future needs and prepares justifications to support resource requirements.
- →Actively promotes, supports, and participates in the FAA¿s Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Program.
- →Applies detailed knowledge of the technical aspect of the work directed.
- →Uses project and program management principles to manage complex projects by performing analyses, interpretation and communications funding and performance metric information to enhance business acumen and to recommend solutions to meet ATO needs.
