About the Position: This position is located in the ECJ5 Security Cooperation Programs (SCP) Division, Strategy, Plans, and Policy, US European Command (EUCOM), in Stuttgart, Germany. EUCOM is a unified Combatant Command (COCOM) reporting directly to the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF), whose mission is to: maintain ready forces to conduct the full spectrum of military operations unilaterally or in concert with the coalition partners.
What You'll Do
- →Analyze data and documents to develop institutional capacity building (ICB) policy, plans, and programs.
- →Assess ongoing, planned, or recommended national defense reform efforts in partner countries.
- →Coordinate Department of Defense (DoD) contributions to broader, interagency security sector governance and security sector reform efforts to increase the sustainability of Security Cooperation Programs (SCPs).
- →Identify gaps and overlaps in partner country reform efforts and makes recommendations for deconflicting SC programs.
- →Provide subject-matter expertise on institutional capacity building (ICB).
- →Present briefings or reports on study findings to senior officers (GO/FO-level) and makes recommendations.
- →Liaise with international and institutional capacity building experts to facilitate objective analysis, program development, and/or program implementation.
- →Ensure the integration of ICB efforts to enhance partner nation abilities.
- →Coordinate efforts to help partners improve ICB of their organizations and processes in order to ensure effective oversight.
