What You'll Do

  • You will assist in the design and delivery of CLE’s Leadership in the Profession of Arms (LPA) course.
  • You will assist in the design and delivery of CLE’s suite of Flag Officer Education courses.
  • You will plan and assist in the design and execution of ethics conference hosted by the Naval War College.
  • You will represent the Naval War College at ethics conferences and symposia globally, specifically addressing professional military ethics.
  • You will research and publish on the topic of professional military ethics.
  • You will establish a colloquium between other DoW PME institutions and academies to meet on a regular basis to share ideas, information, and best practices in educating students in professional military ethics.
  • You will act as a resource for Naval War College academic departments and colleges on curriculum development in the area of professional military ethics.
  • You will integrate professional military ethics throughout the Navy’s Professional Military Education Continuum.
  • You will support the President of the U.S.
  • Naval War College in executing responsibilities to the Chief of Naval Operations for oversight of military professional ethics development across the United States Navy.

Requirements

  • Required Qualifications and Competencies: An earned doctorate, current experience and substantial credentials as an educator and scholar in one or more of the following areas: professional military ethics, moral philosophy, or virtue ethics is required.
  • An established scholarly record and research credentials appropriate for the rank of Professor is required.
  • A significant academic grounding in classical virtue ethics is desired.
  • Program director experience is desired.
  • Demonstrated experience as an academic team leader and familiarity with the United States military, specifically Department of the Navy, is desired.
